The vineyards
The Vineyards at Bodegas Comenge
At Bodegas Comenge we have 32 hectares of Tempranillo and 2 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, which allows us to be self-sufficient in our grape production.
All our vineyards are located very near to the winery, between the slopes of Curiel de Duero, Pesquera, divided into 15 estates of poor limestone soils, with a perfect trinomial between soil, climate and variety, capable of making Tempranillo, the most popular variety in the Ribera del Duero, reach its highest level of power, elegance, finesse, complexity and balance, combining the flavor of the earth and sun, to form the basis of a singular red wine.
The extreme continental climate of the Ribera del Duero subject the vineyards to the rigors of winter and the summer heat, conditioning low yields of the strains, a key to the character of our grapes, which form small clusters, singly, with tiny berries, concentrated, that are always well lit and airy. Our grapes mature in the shelter of native vegetation, in perfect harmony with the ecosystem.
